    Hi Michael

I’ve seen the Quick Silver on your blog now several times. I’m still hesitating to download it. I just love Spotlight and I hope it won’t interfere with it. By the way, I’m new to the Mac and not so sure of what I’m doing. I would use QS to create folders and move files around. I know that QS can do more than that but that would be a way to start. Any comments or encouragement yo can give me to assuage my fears?

    Thanks a zillion

    Claude

[...] Quicksilver can be a tough application to understand and I personally hadn’t come across a lot of good instructions on how to use it. Been doing the whole trial by fire approach. But fortunately one of my buddies over at Splunk has put together one of the best Quicksilver tutorials I’ve seen to date. That was really great man! It’s good to get a ‘to-the-point’ video overview of the way someone works.

Nicely done. Coverflow and Showcase links seem to all be dead. :(

Nice tutorial. I still keep diggin LaunchBar though. I can do almost anything you showed with it. Plus I can do stuff I used to do with QS even faster with LaunchBar. And for stuff you can’t do right away there are some cool applescripts in the forums.

Just some general things I like better in LB:
    - stability & speed
    - subselect via spacebar instead of tab … it really adds speed for me
    - holding a key to launch (i.g. hold “S” and it will launch Safari)
    - “Instant Send” … LB sometimes is just a step further … QS has s.th. similar but you have to first hit Tab to do s.th. with what you picked.

I really loved Quicksilver and it took me a while before I was giving LaunchBar a serious chance … But for me it definitely payed off.

Good video. Good stuff for learners

However the force at which you press your enter key and the space bar or tab —> THE LOUD THWACK of the keyboard made me cringe everytime. God bless your mac!

  15. Deverill Says:

Wow, I was going to say just what AndyK did. Awesome video and good information in there but for the love of your Mac, give the enter key a break! Seriously, it did detract from the vid quite a bit. You almost lost me at 4:00-ish but I hung out and it’s great info. For me the others weren’t so bad but the Enter was the bad one.

    Thanks for the vid!
