Healthcare and Machine Data—What’s Not to Love?
It’s February, the designated month of love, so I thought it fitting to share the Splunk slogan I love the most: “I like big data, and I cannot lie.” And I’m not the only one—healthcare organizations around the world are loving how big data, especially machine data, is helping them to improve their systems.
The healthcare industry has tons of machine data, not only from their infrastructure and applications, but also from sources like EHRs and connected medical devices. Now they can leverage this data to achieve unique insights that can help standardize infrastructure, improve diagnostics, meet regulations and even tailor medical care. Here’s some real world examples:

Data-driven insights into performance, availability and compliance of an FX service with ITSI
Running a Service in financial services is tough. Not only is there the burden of ensuring your service is 100% available to avoid a financial meltdown but you also need to find ways of optimizing every available CPU clock or KB of memory to stay competitive (check out long-time Splunker Finnbar Cunningham’s Credit Suisse .conf Presentation). All whilst having regulators breathing down your neck ready to slap a multi-million (or billion) dollar fine on you.
Maybe you do deserve those bonuses.
What do I mean by a Service? A system or application that allows a business to operate or trade. This could be an online retail site, an ERP platform and so on. For financial services, and capital markets in …

Splunk Women In Tech: Making the Jump to the Executive and C-Suite
Research shows that women who have a sponsor are more likely to have better pay, advance more quickly, get more high-profile assignments and stay in the workforce once they have children. Yet, men are 45% more likely than women to have a sponsor.
On Monday, Dec. 12, Tracy Edkins, Chief Human Resources Officer at Splunk, shared this research and highlighted the importance of sponsorship as she kicked off Splunk’s Women in Technology event: Making the Jump to the Executive and C-Suite. The event brought together 50 senior-level Splunkers to engage in a conversation on this topic. The evening included networking and executive-facilitated discussions over dinner, followed by a fireside chat with Godfrey Sullivan, Chairman of the Board and former …
