Countdown to AWS re:Invent – Security Requires Visibility
Learn all about Splunk at AWS re:Invent 2016.
I first heard the phrase ‘Security Requires Visibility’ during the Introduction to AWS Security session at the 2015 AWS SF Summit. I must say, it immediately resonated.
Over the past 3 years at Splunk, I’ve spoken with customers such as Adobe, Autodesk, FamilySearch, FINRA and more about how they leverage Splunk visibility to help ensure security and compliance on AWS. The reason is simple and was best said by AWS themselves – ‘Security Requires Visibility’.
Given this simple axiom, I’m thrilled that at this year’s re:Invent, Adobe will be speaking on how they use Splunk to achieve AWS Security Monitoring and Compliance Validation on AWS. The title of …
Countdown to AWS re:Invent — Looking for Real-time AWS Cost Management?
Learn all about Splunk at AWS re:Invent 2016.
The conclusion of .conf2016 means one thing for the cloud team here at Splunk – time to prepare for AWS re:Invent. We’re just a month away, so let me welcome you to the first post of a re:Invent preview series about how AWS agility + Splunk visibility = customer success.
This week’s topic is a throwback to my presentation last year with Gary Mikula and Siddhartha Dadana of FINRA – talking about end-to-end visibility in a large-scale AWS environment – particularly with regard to cost management.
If you use AWS, you know the challenges with managing cost. Your developers spin up instances and forget to spin them down. You leverage on-demand instances …
AWS Agility + Splunk Visibility = Customer Success
If you’ve ever wondered how Splunk and AWS work together to drive customer success in the cloud, hear it directly from AWS CEO Andy Jassy and Splunk CEO Doug Merritt in this new 4-minute video:

- Coca-Cola North America engaged in a digital marketing transformation.
- EnerNOC succeeded with DevOps on AWS.
- FINRA gained security and operational insights, as well as real-time cost management where they are saving over 50% on select AWS workloads.
What’s our “secret sauce”? It’s simple… customer …
Security requires visibility: Transform data into AWS security insights
As I speak with customers about their plans to leverage cloud, there is one question I hear more often than not – “How can I migrate to cloud without losing end-to-end visibility across my infrastructure?”
There’s good reason for this question. After all:
- You can’t secure what you can’t see
- You can’t operate what you can’t see
- You can’t manage what you can’t see
- You can’t optimize cost for what you can’t see
Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking on a webinar together with AWS and our joint customer, EnerNOC, on how organizations can gain full visibility of their cloud or hybrid environment.
- AWS spoke about their shared responsibility model, and the various services (CloudTrail, Config, VPC Flow Logs,
Cheers to Customer Growth: MindTouch Receives $12 Million in Funding
Back in 2014 I wrote a blog post about an innovative new Splunk Cloud customer, MindTouch, that was increasing its customer retention and had tripled its customer count with the help of our cloud platform for Operational Intelligence. When I first heard about MindTouch and then met some of the employees and executives, I knew they were onto something big. You see, MindTouch does something pretty cool. They’ve developed a cloud service that helps organizations better engage with their customers by delivering insights into how customers consume the organization’s self-service product and help content. Much like Splunk Cloud, MindTouch helps its clients use data in a way that can give them incredible insight into customer interests and behavior. Some …
